Welcome to Transfer Student Advising!

Transfer students are important members of our community. We want to make your transition to 每日大赛入口 as smooth as possible. Here are some helpful resources and information to make sure you get the most of your academic experience. 听If you鈥檇 like to meet with the a member of the Advising team, you can听find our information here.

Been accepted to UNCA? Here is how to register for your first semester:

  1. SUBMIT听your Enrollment Form on your听
    • Be sure ALL transcripts have been sent to UNCA. 听If you are currently finishing up classes somewhere, make sure to submit those final transcripts ASAP when you are finished.
  2. COMPLETE听the 鈥淧re-Registration Form鈥
    • You can find this in your听听within two business days of your submitting your Enrollment Form.
  3. FIND听your听RAN (Registration Access Number)
    • This will be emailed to your UNCA email after your Pre-Registration Form is submitted
  4. USE听the resources below to learn how to register for your first semester, how to understand your transfer credits, and other useful information

    • Transfer equivalency self-service tool听鈥 if your transcripts have not been processed yet, or have not been sent over yet, use this tool to see what UNCA classes you could receive credit for
    • Find your registration date on the听registration calendar. 听It is based on your earned hours.
    • If the classes from your most recent semester, (or AP/IB scores) are pre-requisites for a class you want to take your first semester at 每日大赛入口, then听,听and an advisor will register you for the course on your assigned registration day.听*You will need to be logged into UNCA email to access this form*
    • Remember that while 12 credit hours is considered full-time, we encourage you to register for 15-16 hours a semester for timely degree completion and to meet听CPOS requirements.

  • First,check your GradPlan – Process a ‘What-IF Audit’ to explore different degree programs.
      • Requirements shown with a green check are what you already have credit for.
      • Requirements shown with an open red circle are the ones you will still need to fulfill.
      • Requirements shown with a half-filled blue circle are the ones you have in progress based on your registration.
  • Second, check theTransfer Equivalency Self-Service Toolto see what classes you may receive credit for before arriving to campus. (A minimum grade of C is required to earn transfer credit).
      • The Self-Service Tool allows you to enter your course history and get a look at how it could transfer in as a whole (just use the link from the site you are directed to).听 The Equivalency Tool lets you look up a class one by one from in-state and out-of-state schools.
      • If you have AP Scores or IB exams,听听and make sure you send the scores to 每日大赛入口 directly from听.
      • If the classes from your most recent semester (or pending AP/IB scores) are pre-requisites for a class you want to take your first semester at 每日大赛入口, then听,听and an advisor will register you for the course on your assigned registration day.听*You will need to be logged into UNCA email to access this form*

All students will need to fulfill the听. Some of these classes double count for your major.听Note: The core curriculum is considered fulfill for any student who has earned an AA or AS degree from a North Carolina Community College. This does not include the Senior-Year Seminar course (SYS 478).

  • A minimum of 12 credit hours is needed to be considered Full-Time but it is recommended that you complete 15-16 hours per fall/spring semester.
  • 15-16 hours is required for timely degree completion and staying on track for CPOS. ()
  • All students need at least 120 hours to graduate. Depending on your major and your transfer credit, you may find you need electives to reach 120 hours. So if you cannot get all the classes you need to fulfill the Core Curriculum or for your major, consider taking electives or focusing on a double major or minor to meet the minimum 120-hour degree.
  • 听if the classes are closed

  • We encourage you to听听as soon as you have an idea of what you want your academic path to be.
      • If you are bringing in 60+ hours of transfer credit, you must听听before the start of classes for your first semester.
  • You will be assigned a faculty advisor shortly after declaring your major. If you declare a specific major, you will be assigned a faculty advisor in your intended major within the first few weeks of the semester starting. This will be based on your answer on the Pre-Registration Form. If you are an exploratory major (which will be reflected as undecided in GradPlan), you will be assigned to a Student Success Specialist.
  • Every semester, you will need to meet with your assigned advisor to receive your RAN and register for classes. If you are unsure of who your advisor is, check your GradPlan.
  • Please note:听Some departments have specific requirements and prerequisites before you can declare.听
